I have been trying to figure out how to update my maps for hours on end. After registering on this website and at the very least finally figuring out how to do that. I have downloaded Navigon Fresh and am attempting to do this. Only, I cant even get it to register my Navigon. Can someone please help me asap! I am going on a trip tomorrow and my GPS has worked fine for 2 years and now all of a sudden its stopped working and I am trying to update my maps in hopes that this is the reason it stopped working to being with. Please Please Please HELP!!!

• I know this is an old thread, but hopefully this will help others. There's an easier way to update the maps, than using Navigon Fresh (which takes forever). Simply follow these steps. If you still have the 2 gig SD card that came with your Navigon unit, it is probably too small to fit the latest updates. You'll need to run out to Walmart or your favorite local electronics store, and buy a 4 gig SD card.
  - Log into your account on Navigon's website
  - Click the NAVIGON FreshMaps link on the left side
  - In the grey box, click the link 'Other OS.' If you have Windows, don't worry, this file will work just the same
  - On the next page, click the large button at the bottom of the screen to download the map update. Pick the directory where you want to download the file
  - After downloading the file, unzip the file. Make a note of the directory where you unzipped the file
  - Hook up your Navigon to your computer, by either USB cable or by removing the SD card from the Navigon unit and putting it into your computer's card reader.
  - Navigate to the main directory on the SD card. Highlight all files and folders, and copy them to a new directory on your computer. This will make a backup copy, in case something goes wrong. Make sure you don't copy them over the files you just downloaded. This can take quite awhile to complete.
  - If you still have the original memory card that came with your Navigon unit, remove it and replace it with the new 4 gig card.
  - Now you're ready to update your Navigon. Navigate to the directory where you downloaded the update. Copy the contents of the folder to the Navigon. Again, this step will take quite awhile to complete.
  - Once this step is complete, your Navigon is updated and ready to go. Either remove the Navigon from the USB cable, or remove the SD card from your card reader and put it in your Navigon unit, and turn it on. It will boot up with the new software & maps.
  If you have already upgraded to a 4 gig SD card, it is even easier to update the maps. Just download the update as described above. Instead of unzipping the entire file, just extract the map file (USA 48 Contiguous States Q3 2010.map - obviously it'll say something different than Q3 2010, depending on which update you've downloaded). Then copy the new map file to your Navigon, and delete the old file.

• DamonZ28, How long should the initial download from Navigon take this way?
  Mine shows about 5 hours and I'm NOT using the old dial-up connection!
  I have a 7200T & I haven't updated the maps since around March 2010.
• It took me a lot less time than with Fresh. However, if the servers are busy, it could take quite awhile. I think it usually took less than an hour to download it that way.
  I'm trying it right now, and it seems to be going pretty slow. But it's telling me about 30 minutes.
• Well, I got up to 900 mb, and now it's stalled. I guess I'll just let it keep going.
• It took me ~ 1.5 hours to download on Friday. The file is 1.8 gig, and I was averaging 450KB down, which I thought was pretty good.
• DamonZ28 - The download took 5 hours, but afterward I did as you wrote and it worked perfectly and quickly. I also copied the complete backup onto a small flash drive as a safety. Were there any changes other than to the maps, and is there ANY way to know in which locations they were made ? I saw almost all the maps had current dates so maybe there was at least one change in each state? The POI file showed the Zagat was updated, but are those the regular POI as well? Thanks for your help
• Hi Guys,
  i have updated my navigon 7100 using Fresh to Q4 2010 update for 7100. It took me long time infact it was doing whole night. I have a Fiber Optic cable connection with 25 mpbs download speed. But once it is done, i am all set. But i have to caution you guys,that with this update i lost the spoken street name feature. But i got it fixed by adding 3 folders to the MP6/sounds folder.

• Damon - I can't seem to get to the 'choose OS' screen for the 3rd Qtr 2011 update using your directions which worked in the past. Did it work for you?
